Mike O’Gorman possesses more than 20 years of extensive experience in the oil and gas industry. He currently serves as General Superintendent at Dimension Energy Services, where he enjoys the challenges that his job brings, as well as working at a family-oriented company.
“We’ve got personnel that have been here for eight years,” he said. “It’s a very respectable company. I love it.”
Prior to joining Dimension in 2004, he worked at Haines Construction, where he traveled to work on various projects related to oil and gas across the United States. O’Gorman says he started at the bottom at Haines and climbed his way up to operating equipment.
Now he’s the General Superintendent of the Anadarko region for Dimension, an area that spans the Texas Panhandle and western Oklahoma. His responsibilities include bidding jobs, tracking job costs, handling personnel issues, and working with superintendents to make sure needs are met on their projects.
“Overall, I’m like a principal at a high school,” O’Gorman said of his role.
O’Gorman has expertise in practically every aspect of pipeline projects at Dimension.
“In this area, what we do as far as pipelines, I have physically worked in areas from the ground up to laborer to driving a truck, digging pipelines, and more,” he said. “I’ve done every phase in this pipelining business except welding.”
O’Gorman takes pride in the business relationships with his customers as well as the company’s stellar reputation in the industry.
“Our work speaks for itself,” he said. “We are very attuned to our skills and ability to do our jobs to the satisfaction of our clients.”
He said Dimension instills accountability among its employees. He also said Dimension values cultivating good relationships and respecting others, such as landowners who are affected by a project.
“I think it’s important that we know who they (landowners) are and if they have any questions or are wondering what’s going on. Please come out and ask for a general superintendent, because we want to make landowners equally as happy as the customer,” he said.
Dimension Energy Services upholds high safety standards, an area that O’Gorman also values. In 2012, Dimension Energy Services was among 100 companies in the state to earn the Texas Mutual Safety Award, an honor Texas Mutual Insurance Company gives to policyholders that demonstrate a high level of commitment to employee safety.
O’Gorman is passionate about his work at Dimension Energy Services – so much so that he vowed not to let a cancer diagnosis in May 2014 interfere with his ability to do his job.
“The goal I set for myself was, through my treatment I would not miss a day’s work,” he said.
He achieved his goal, never missing work while undergoing seven weeks of radiation.
In January 2015, doctors gave O’Gorman good news: he was cancer-free.
“I achieved it through the glory of God,” he said. “I had tremendous support from Dimension, family, friends and the community. I didn’t do it alone. That’s the best story of my career.”
O’Gorman is a member of the National Center for Construction Education and Research and ISNetworld. When he isn’t working at Dimension Energy Services, he is spending time with his family and roping steers with his son. O’Gorman is a member of the United States Team Roping Championships.
